The Alpine Lakes Tour is an experience. Athletic, sensory and human all at once. Gliding through the mountains on crystal-clear waters, discovering new sensations and meeting people who share the same curiosity and enthusiasm.
A magnificent playground: the Alps!
From the great lakes (Lake Geneva, Lake Annecy, Lake Bourget) to mountain lakes (Lac des Confins, Lac de Roselend and even Lac de Tignes at 2,100m), from scorching summer days to snow (GlaGla Race 2015, Alpine Lakes Tour La Clusaz in 2013), the Alpine Lakes Tour is a unique experience, even for champions.
Who can take part? Do I need to do every stage?
Everyone can take part in the Alpine Lakes Tour! Some races are reserved for experienced competitors, but every stage offers races and activities for all levels, including beginners. It’s not a question of age either! Children, teenagers, adults and seniors all take part! Stand up paddle is a gentle sport accessible to everyone.
You don’t need to do every stage. Registration is on a stage-by-stage basis. Registrations usually open 1 to 2 months before the event. Some paddlers only enter one race a year, particularly the GlaGla Race, the stage that attracts the most competitors (750 in 2024).
Rankings and categories
Each race awards points towards the Alpine Lakes Tour overall ranking. The principle: points for distance in short and long races (1 per km), plus points based on finishing position (1 for the last finisher, 2 for second-to-last, etc.). Points are awarded based on the scratch ranking. For technical races (Technical Race, SUPer LAP), participation points are independent of distance (10).
There is an overall scratch ranking and a ranking by category. The main categories are Rigid SUP vs Inflatable SUP, split into men and women. The reference category is the 14′ rigid SUP. We also have under-18 and over-60 categories (depending on the number of participants).
