Thank you all for your participation in this Tropical Race 2023! A huge thank you to the Tropical Corner for their welcome and their golden help! Thank you to the rescue of Geneva and our team of super volunteers: Amandine, Angélique, Hélène, Naty, Anne, Jérôme, Jean Philippe and Laurent! A big thank you to Alexis for his great photos (coming soon ;-))

Congratulations to Emmanuelle Marcon and Olivier Comazzi, winners of the long distance in the women’s and men’s categories. A huge congratulations to the children, especially from the club of Thonon and Savoie! You have been incredible in good humor, sportsmanship, tenacity and performance!

We invite you all to Italy for the next stage of the Alpine Lakes Tour 2023 with the magnificent Alpine Paradise Race!

3e étape 2023 de l’Alpine Lakes Tour ce dimanche à Genève!

Hop hop hop les inscriptions sont ouvertes ! Nouveauté : course de 3 KM pour les “juniors” (moins de 15 ans) Départ en même temps que la courte et la longue distance : 10h30.

Parking juste à côté : GENEVE PLAGE – Possibilité de décharger votre board au Tropical et d’aller ensuite vous garer. Une zone “stationnement minute” sera réservée juste devant l’entrée entre 8h00 et 9h30.

Possibilité se garer sur les quais (zone bleue à disque –> durée stationnement limitée)

Logement : camping de pointe à la bise : il reste des places pour des tentes. Le camping est au bord du lac, spot magique ! Sanitaires et douches très propres. Tarifs très raisonnables !

Pour renouer avec les 1eres éditions de la Tropical Race, nous allons avoir une Technical Race de format SUPer LAP ! Les concurrents pourront sur un des tours de leur choix sur le parcours prend un raccourci !! Ce raccourci ne peut être pris qu’une seule fois. Chacun est libre de le faire au tour qu’il le souhaite ! Le parcours fera 500m. 5 tours sur chaque manche, soit 2500 mètres au total. Une manche le matin, une l’après midi. On cumule les temps des 2 manches.

Special program for this Tropical Race at the Tropical Corner with a long (10km) and short distance (5 km) departure the same morning. In the afternoon we will have a Dragon Race and a Kids Race at the very beginning of the afternoon then a technical race.

Merci de prévoir un gilet de sauvetage ou aide à la flottabilité 50 N CE. N’oubliez pas votre licence ou votre certificat médical. Vous pouvez prendre votre licence auprès de Lac Annecy Paddle Club.

Il est également possible de prendre une licence journalière directement auprès de la FFSURF. Cette licence FFSURF journalière s’achète en ligne ici.

Une kids race gratuite avec fourniture des paddles et gilets sera organisée à partir de 13h30 – inscriptions sur place pour les enfants de 6 à 14 ans. Nous avons aussi quelques pagaies enfant.

Avant d’entrer dans Chanaz, prendre la direction « Stade » « Camping les îles » « Port de plaisance » L’accès au site se fait au niveau du stade juste avant le camping par un chemin longeant la marina. Le stationnement dans Chanaz est payant. Des places gratuites se trouvent en continuant la route après le camping et le barrage.

Les prévisions météo ne sont pas très bonnes, nous avons prévu un chapiteau pour abriter les concurrents à Chanaz, avec une tente de change chauffée. Et on croise les doigts, on n’est pas à l’abri d’une bonne surprise !

Access to the village of Chanaz and parking

From Annecy, exit the motorway at Alby sur Chéran and take the direction of Albens then the Col de la Chambotte to descend to Lac du Bourget.

Before entering Chanaz, take the direction “Stadium” “Camping les Îles” “Port de Plaisance”

Access to the site is at the level of the stadium just before the campsite by a path along the marina.

Parking in Chanaz is chargeable. Free places are found by continuing the road after the campsite and the dam.

For people participating in the short distance, you must leave your vehicle in Chanaz, pick up your bib at the race “village” and take the shuttle before 10h15 that will take you to the start.

Salut Ludo ! Encore une nouvelle saison qui s’achève ! Quel bilan en dresses-tu ? 

Hello ! Oui 2022 a été une très belle année ! Tant au niveau sportif avec de beaux résultats sur des évènements variés et super sympas que sur d’autres projets comme le film réalisé par Oxbow en Polynésie en première partie d’année ! En tout cas je suis plus motivé que jamais pour ramer et j’attends avec impatience 2023 !

Dans un mois et demi, la GlaGla Race ! Tu y as participé un grand nombre de fois, quels souvenirs ? Qui a-t-il de particulier par rapport à cette course ?

La GlaGla est vraiment particulière, déjà par son positionnement dans le calendrier, c’est LA course qui lance l’année, et bien en sur fin janvier quand on n’est pas censé trop ramer vu les températures ! Ma première édition était en 2015 et on était sous la neige, j’ai pu voir la course grandir et aujourd’hui c’est une référence dans notre sport ! Talloires et le lac d’Annecy sont un spot incroyable pour ramer et l’ambiance avec des centaines de personnes est vraiment unique !

Interview GlaGla Race : John Mc Fadzaean, a lifetime quest to SUP

Hello John ! Happy to see you coming back to the GlaGla Race ! Can you tell us who you are for those who don’t know you yet ! How long have you been paddling ? 

I’m a 58-year-old stand-up paddleboarder, born in Glasgow, Scotland, and living in the northwest of England for the last 30 years. One Saturday morning in June 2014 I happened to look out of my window which overlooks Southport Marine Lake. I saw three people out on the lake, paddleboarding. I’d never seen such a thing before, and I was intrigued. I had my first lesson later that month. What began as a hobby evolved into a lifetime quest to SUP in every country in the world. I’m on 47 countries at the moment, so I still have a long way to go. 

What do you like about the GlaGla Race ? 

In my first few years of SUP, I was famous in my friend group for hibernating every winter. My board would go away at the end of October and not come back out until March or April. In 2017/18, I decided to be brave and paddle through the winter. Then I read about the Glagla Race and decided to be braver still. I took part in January 2018 and loved every minute of it, even though it was very cold on the day. It snowed not long after the race finished. I think the GlaGla Race is a unique event and I like to challenge myself. I just love the town of Annecy itself and the lake is absolutely spectacular. I’m very much looking forward to coming again in 2023.

You are a big fan of the Red Paddle brand. What do you like most about their SUP boards ? 

I’ve owned Redpaddle boards for more than eight years now. Sometimes my quest to SUP the World takes me to unusual or isolated locations, and I often paddle alone. It’s important for me to have top-quality equipment that won’t let me down. I know I can rely on Redpaddle. They have a wide range of boards and provide excellent customer service. I’m looking forward to paddling my Redpaddle 13’2 Voyager on Lake Annecy in January 2023.

GlaGla Race 2023 : strong start ! ça démarre fort !

100 registered participants for the registration opening : new record !

Registration for the GlaGla Race 2023 opened yesterday evening and 100 participants registered alreday ! That’s the strongest start ever with competitors from France, Switzerland, Austria, Sweden, the Netherlands, Israël, the USA, Germany, Italy !

Les inscriptions pour la GlaGla Race 2023 ont ouvert hier soir et 100 participants se sont déjà inscrits ! C’est le meilleur départ de tous les temps avec des compétiteurs de France, Suisse, Autriche, Suède, Pays-Bas, Israël, USA, Allemagne, Italie !

Very Flat Race Aiguebelette 2022

Très belle édition de la Very Flat Race sur le lac d’Aiguebelette hier, dimanche 2 octobre. Limité à 100 participants en raison de son classement en réserve naturelle, l’événement a fait le plein ! Un résumé complet de la journée très vite !

Very nice edition of the Very Flat Race on Lake Aiguebelette yesterday, Sunday October 2. Limited to 100 participants due to its classification as a nature reserve, the event was full! A complete summary of the day very quickly!
