🏋️ Get Race-Ready: Our Top Training & Gear Tips

Physical Preparation (6 weeks out)

Endurance: Paddle 2-3 times per week at moderate intensity (70-80% effort). No water access? A rowing machine or running work great as substitutes.

Core strength: This is the key in SUP! Your stroke power comes from your hips, not your arms. 3 sets of planks (30 sec to 1 min) daily will make a huge difference.

Intervals: Once a week, alternate 4 minutes of intense effort with 6 minutes of active recovery. Best way to build power for 1.5-2 hour courses.

Race day warm-up: 10 minutes of joint mobilization (shoulders, hips, ankles) then a few easy paddle strokes before the start. Never go in cold!

What Gear to Bring?

The board: Allround, touring or race — all welcome. No board? The Serenity Pack (€15) includes a premium Red Paddle SUP with wetsuit and booties.

Safety essentials: Buoyancy aid (50N CE) + leash. Late April water is still cool (12-14°C): pack at least a shorty, ideally a 3/2mm full wetsuit.

Nice-to-haves: Cap or buff, waterproof sunscreen, water bottle, and water shoes for comfort.

Want group fun? The XL Tribe Challenge (€80 instead of €120): form a team of 6, we provide the giant paddle board, paddles and life vests!

Short or Long Distance?
