3500€ de prize money a la GlaGla Race

3500€ de prize money sont offerts cette année à la GlaGla Race sur le classement scratch de la longue distance. Hommes et femmes seront à égalité en dotation. Une récompense sera versée au gagnant et à la gagnante dans la catégorie gonflable ainsi qu’au meilleur club ! La liste des autres lots offerts par nos partenaires : la commune de Talloires, Red Paddle, Rubbish, Mood, F-one/Manera, Supskin, Monte Medio, Blue Wake, la Samett, Blue1310, sera publiée très prochainement.

The GlaGla Race prize money is €3500 based on the overall ranking on the long distance race. Men and women will received the same amount. There will be a prize for the best man and the best woman on an inflatable board and a prize for the best club ! The list of the other prizes from our partners : Talloires, Red Paddle, Rubbish, Mood, F-one/Manera, Supskin, Monte Medio, Blue Wake, la Samett, Blue1310, will be released soon.

The GlaGla Race is definitely not your average SUP race. While paddleboarding usually conjures up images of boardshorts, sun and sand, GlaGla takes the opposite approach. Instead of sand it’ll be snow, and in place of boardies you’ll find full-length winter gear.

But those paddlers who aren’t afraid of the cold will certainly be rewarded: Lake Annecy (or lac d’Annecy) is a beautiful part of the world, with the Alps rising high above the lake to create lasting imagery.

Named after the French equivalent of “Brrr, it’s freezing!” the “GlaGla” race will be a very special way to kick off the new year. For those who can make the trip to the Alps near the border between France and Switzerland, the event offers a full day of winter racing with several different courses on offer, while the sight of 300+ paddlers charging off the line will surely be something to behold (let’s get those drones going).”

La GlaGla Race 2017 a lieu le 21 janvier prochain ! (INFOS GLAGLA RACE 2018 ICI). Les inscriptions sont encore ouvertes avec une augmentation des tarifs à partir du 8 janvier pour les inscrits tardifs. Alors allez y, si vous n’êtes pas encore inscrit, c’est le moment ! Il n’y aura pas d’inscriptions sur place. Merci de lire les infos pratiques et de sécurité ci-dessous qui seront régulièrement mises à jour. Merci.

2017 : année du Dragon sur l’Alpine Lakes Tour

2017 marque la 5eme saison de l’Alpine Lakes Tour ! Elle sera lancée le 21 janvier prochain avec la GlaGla Race. Parmi les nouveautés 2017, nous pouvons vous annoncer l’arrivée de la Red Paddle Dragon, modèle race de 22′ pour 4 rameurs ! Nous aurons minimum 5 Dragon engagées sur une série d’épreuves. Tout le monde pourra y participer, les Dragon étant mises à disposition des demandeurs sur une base qui reste à déterminer.

2017 is the 5th year of the Alpine Lakes Tour ! The season will be launched on January 21st with the famous GlaGla Race. In 2017, we will organize Red Paaddle Dragon races. The Dragon is a new race board for 4 people (22′). We’ll have at least 5 boards on each race. Everyone will be able to compete, we’ll announce how participants will be able to register for the Dragon series.

Déjà plus de 200 inscrits pour la GlaGla Race, reconnaissance dimanche

La GlaGla Race a lieu dans un peu moins de 2 mois et vous êtes déjà plus de 200 à avoir confirmé votre participation !

Ce dimanche, Annecy Stand Up Paddle Club organise une reconnaissance au départ de la plage de Talloires sur le parcours de la GlaGla Race. Prêt de planches pour les membres du club. Location possible auprès du NCY SUP pour les extérieurs.

Vous pourrez découvrir les parcours. Il n’y aura pas de bouées installées sur le parcours mais vous aurez un brief sur l’itinéraire à suivre.

Probably the largest stand up paddle winter race in the world

glagla race the freezing cold raceOn January 21st, 2017, the 4th edition of the GlaGla Race (understand the Brrrr Brrrr Race in French … as in freezing COLD!) is taking place in Talloires, Lake Annecy – France.

For the latest edition, 200 paddlers from all regions of France and also from Spain, Germany, Austria, Italy and Switzerland, took on the GlaGla Race challenge : paddling in the Alps in the middle of winter, on a lake at 6°c! In 2015 the water temperature was 4°c! As the number of participants double each year, we expect at least 300 paddlers in 2017. For the first time this year there will be €3,500 prize money for the Long Distance (Men & Women) races.
