Ouverture des inscriptions pour la GLAGLA Race 2016

Ramer en plein hiver, sous la neige, dans les Alpes avec une eau à 4°c…. La GLAGLA Race est une course insolite qui a rassemblé, en janvier 2015, 100 amateurs de stand up paddle de toute la France, mais aussi de Suisse, d’Italie et d’Allemagne. 200 places sont prévues pour cette édition 2016. Relèverez-vous le défi ?

The GlaGla Race is a very special SUP Race held in France every year in January. 100 People from France, Switzerland, Italy and Germany came last year for the second edition. Are you ready ? Programme prévisionnel de la journée du samedi 23 janvier 2016

Ce programme sera confirmé dès que possible sachant que les conditions météo peuvent nous amener à changer les parcours afin d’assurer sécurité et plaisir aux participants.

Le matin 2 distances au programme : 5 et 13 km le matin (départ simultané)
L’après-midi, une course de type “beach race”.

Le parcours 13 km est réservé à des pratiquants expérimentés qui ont déjà participé à des longues distances. Le détail des parcours sera communiqué rapidement.

8h00 / 10h00 : accueil des participants et retrait des dossards
10h30 : départ courses 5 et 13 km
12h30 / 13h30 : déjeuner
15h00 : Beach Race
16h30 : Remise des prix

Un repas sera proposé aux participants et aux accompagnants. Le menu et le prix seront communiqués ultérieurement.

Il est également prévu une journée ski dimanche 24 janvier en collaboration avec le ski club de Faverges.

Assurance et matériel de sécurité

Pour la GlaGla Race, le leash est obligatoire ainsi qu’une combinaison type Long John et un gilet de flottaison léger (type kayak). Nous pouvons louer des gilets via le club de Kayak d’Annecy pour ceux qui le souhaitent. (nous contacter par e-mail)

L’eau du lac d’Annecy est à 5°c environ en janvier. Il faut s’équiper en conséquence avec notamment des chaussons et des gants.

Une licence est demandée aux participants de la longue distance. Si vous cherchez un club de Stand Up Paddle à Annecy : Annecy Stand Up Paddle Club est affilié à la fédération française de Surf et habilité à délivrer des licences loisir et compétition.

Etape Alpine Lakes Tour Lac de Joux

Lac de Joux

L’étape du lac de Joux initialement prévue sur le week-end des 22 et 23 août et qui devait être couplée avec celle de Montreux pour une étape “Romandie” a été déplacée au 9 août pour des raisons administratives : les responsables d’ALPS SUP n’ayant pas obtenu finalement d’autorisation pour le week end des 22/ 23 août.

Cette étape est maintenue au calendrier de l’Alpine Lakes Tour. L’organisation de la journée et de la course est réalisée à 100% par Alps SUP et n’engage que ses responsables. Les points gagnés sur les courses de 5 et 10 km seront comptabilisés au classement général de l’Alpine Lakes Tour.

L’étape de l’Alpine Lakes Tour à Montreux organisée conjointement avec Montreux SUP’Surf aura lieu samedi 22 août.

Fin d’un grand week-end de stand up paddle sur l’Alpine Lakes Tour !

Après la pluie d’hier, le soleil, après un lac super flat, de gros bumps, après la France, la Suisse, après le petit village d’Yvoire, la grande cité internationale de Genève, après une longue race de 13 km, un parcours très technique de 2 km, après une très bonne journée, une autre très bonne journée !!

Le principe de la course d’aujourd’hui : 6 bouées à virer sur un tour de 400m + 1 bouée joker pour prendre un raccourci sur le tour de son choix. Quelle stratégie choisir ? Hakim Dridah a attendu le 4e tour sur la 2eme et ce choix s’est révélé payant il finit vainqueur au scratch devant Ludovic Teulade qui lui l’a prise sur le 1er tour.

From the summits of the Alps to the largest European lake

TRC_7481With 4 stops in 2 weeks and the Alpine SUP camp, for all stand up paddle and wide open mountain spaces addicts, it is an exciting time !

It started on Lake Roselend (with the famous Pierra Mountain above), a pure emerald green mountain lake with an XXL SUP Camp supervised by Eric Terrien.

Eric then won the long distance and technical race in Roselend and the SUPer LAP Race in Tignes !

This week-end, after the white summits of the Savoie, the Alpine Lakes Tour is heading towards the largest European lake, Lake Geneva, with 2 stops in 2 days : one on the French side in Sciez with a long distance race going up to the picturesque village of Yvoire, a short race, a technical and kid race, Red Paddle Co (and others brands) tests and also a GladiaSUP to relax afterwards. (a stand up paddle contest with inflatable obstacles)

On sunday August the 2nd, less than 30 kilometers from Sciez, a totally different stop in the city of Geneva in Switzerland. The race format is going to be more technical and fun with a SUPer LAP Race. The Super Lap concept is pretty simple: During a multi-lap race, each participant gets to take a shortcut on one lap of their choice. The key here is that each paddler gets to choose when they take the Super Lap. This throws up so many interesting possibilities that turns the race into an unpredictable, tactical battle.

3rd stop : Lake Annecy !

After the underground Lake Leonard in Switzerland, and Lake Aiguebelette, the Alpine Lakes Tour next stop this week end is in Annecy. It’s the first time ever that a SUP Race is taking place in the heart of the city of Annecy, famous for its old town and canal.

This very special event mixes entertaining activities and sprint, short, long distances races + a technical race.

A Paddle Yoga session will be held on saturday afternoon.

Thanks to our main sports partner Red Paddle Co, Tests, sprint races, crazy games and the kid race will be free !

The Beach Race is going to be held in the evening (at 7 pm) to catch the very nice sunset light.

The Long Distance -15 km-, a record for an Alpine Lakes Tour race, is going to be held on Sunday Morning (at 9 am) to have a very still and clear lake. Don’t miss it !

The Route is a new one starting from Les Marquisats beach in Annecy, crossing towards the village of Veyrier, then along the shore up to the Menthon Castle. The the racers will cross again the lake towards the “lagoon”, a part of the lake where the water is very clear.

The last part follow the shore to the starting point in les Marquisats.

Lac d'Aiguebelette SUP Race 2015La prochaine étape de l’Alpine Lakes Tour aura lieu le dimanche 17 mai sur le lac d’Aiguebelette ! C’est la première fois qu’une course est organisée sur ce joli petit lac de l’avant pays savoyard !

The Bat Race : The World’s First Underground SUP Event

st-leonard-corne-suisse-600The Bat Race  : The world’s first underground stand up paddling competition on Europe’s largest underground lake in St-Léonard, Valais, Switzerland on 14th March 2015.

Riders will compete in sprint races in a double elimination tournament. Time for strolling on the lake and fun activities are also on the day’s schedule.

The event is baptised Bat Race in reference to the mammals that populate the cave where the event will take place.

Registration, limited to 40 riders, opens on 24th February 2015 at 20:00 CE on this website. Get ready !

Recently named a candidate for “the world’s most beautiful SUP race series” shortlist on supracer.com, the Alpine Lakes Tour features races on the Alps’ most breathtaking lakes. No waves or coconut trees – here it’s crystal turquoise water, wild nature and snowy peaks that build the stage on which the tour’s competitors race year-round since 2013. Initially held in France and Switzerland, in 2015 the tournament will extend its reach to Italy with a race in the city of Turin. The tour launches its third edition with this world premiere organised with Swiss partner Alps SUP.

Lake St-Léonard is Europe’s largest underground lake. The about 300 m long pool is housed in a cave hidden in mountainside in the beautiful region of Valais, known for its vineyards, apricot orchards and world-class ski resorts. Mostly unaffected by the seasons change, the lake’s water is at a constant 11°C year-round and the air temperature in the cave averages 15°C. The lake is open to the public from March to October and can be visited through guided tours, which bring visitors on a rowing boat tour through the lake’s several bays.

Stand up paddling on the lake is forbidden and has been granted exclusively to the Alpine Lakes Tour for this unique event!

Event description

In order to avoid overcrowding and guarantee the lake’s magic stillness to all participants, registration is limited to 40 entrants. 25 further non-competitors can register as spectators. They will have the chance to paddle on the lake and take part to the SUP game scheduled at mid-event. One-design 12’6 inflatable race boards will be provided by the organiser. Competitors will be free to use their own paddles.

The tournament includes 3 rounds of which all competitors will race at least the first two. A different course and distance is planned for each round:

It’s a tradition of the Alpine Lakes Tour to organise a SUP game (a SUP-related innovative and fun activity) at each event. Such a game will take place at one end of the lake at mid-event and will be open to all competitors, spectators and volunteers. Extra boards will be provided for free strolling on the remainder of the lake.
