Ludovic Teulade wins again ! Photos and results of the Very Flat Race 2025

Very Flat Race 2025 ludovic Teulade winner of the Long Distance

Thank you all for participating in the Very Flat Race on Lake Aiguebelette!

Thank you to our partners, including Red Paddle Co, who has supported us for 10 years, and the managers of the Lake Aiguebelette Reserve who have also authorized us for 10 years to organize this race every year on this majestic and… flat lake!

Thank you to our amazing team of volunteers and competitors & volunteers (starting with Jean-Philippe Dargeou, who was very involved from the preparation to the setup and tidying up after the race) and the whole team: Angélique, Germain, Yann, Julien, Marc, and Philippe, and those who helped us with the setup: the Hodge and Quibbert families! A big thank you also to our amazing photographer who’s been with us… for 11 years and has notably photographed every edition of the Very Flat Race since 2015 and most of the 80-plus races organized by the Alpine Lakes Tour since their first involvement in 2014 on Lake Laffrey!

Thanks to the departmental rowing center (base départementale d’aviron) which lends us electric boats every year to secure the race, and thank you to Mother Nature who always provides us with magical conditions, even if it was a little chilly this year 🙂

parcours longue distance aiguebelette

The Short Distance Course (4.7 km)

The start is from the beach, board under the arm! Quick, quick, you run into the water, jump onto your board, stand up, and start paddling to the clearing buoy off Sougey beach.

You round the buoy, keeping it on your right, and head towards the southwest end of the lake and the mouth of the Thiez stream where the 2nd buoy is located, which you round on your left.

You then head toward the large island, which you round, keeping it on your left. Just after passing the island, you will see 2 buoys: one green and one red! You pass between the two and turn left towards Sougey beach, back to the starting point! A green buoy at the end of the beach (on the right) must be rounded and kept on your left before crossing the finish line between the two “noodle” buoys from Red Paddle. Congratulations, you have finished!

The long distance, however, is reserved for paddlers with a good skill level or good physical endurance to cover the 12 km loop around Lake Aiguebelette.

The Long Distance Course

The start of the long distance takes place at the same time as the short distance and is common until the 3rd buoy, just after the large island.

So, the start is from the beach, board under the arm!

You pass between the two buoys and turn slightly right towards the port of Aiguebelette. A red buoy is placed in front of the pontoon; you leave it to your left and then paddle along the shore for 2 km.

on longe la cote sur 2 km

Upon reaching the point, you turn right to aim for the buoy at the back of the bay, which you leave on your left.

Then you paddle up to the end of the lake (north end) for 1.5 km.

There, you round the buoy at the end of the lake, leaving it on your left, to return towards the starting point (southwest direction).

This final (almost straight) leg is 2.5 km long.

Finish

For the finish, you must pick up the 1st buoy again, but keeping it on your right, then round the green buoy in front of the beach, keeping it on your left, and cross the finish line in front of the beach between the two “Red Paddle noodle” buoys. Congratulations, you have finished!

Access to Lake Aiguebelette from Annecy / Geneva / Chambery

Roadworks will take place during the Very Flat Race weekend in Chambéry (detailed info here)

The concession company AREA has undertaken the demolition and reconstruction of bridge 3004 located on the A41 Nord and spanning the urban expressway (VRU, RN 210) in Chambéry.

This major operation, entrusted by AREA to Bouygues Travaux Publics Régions France, will require the closure of the A41 Nord and the VRU in the work zone:

from Friday, October 3rd, at 8:00 pm until Monday, October 6th, at 6:00 am.

This will lead to significant traffic disruptions throughout the Chambéry area and especially on the following roads, which will be closed in the work sector:

• in both directions of traffic, VRU closed between La Motte-Servolex and Villarcher,

• in the Lyon > Annecy direction, A41 Nord closed at the Chambéry Nord interchange,

• in the Annecy > Chambéry direction, A41 Nord closed between the Aix-les-Bains junction and the Chambéry Nord interchange.

Diversion Routes

Several alternative routes are recommended and will be signposted to limit the impact on traffic:

• transit traffic between the Albertville/Chambéry/Annecy/Lyon hubs: yellow and green routes on the map

• transit traffic between Chambéry and Le Bourget-du-Lac: light blue route on the map

• local travel: dark blue route on the map

All routes will be clearly signposted on site.

Chi può partecipare alla Very Flat Race?

TUTTI!

parcours longue distance aiguebelette

Quest’ultimo tratto (quasi dritto) è lungo 2,5 km.

Arrivo

Complimenti, siete arrivati!
