Friendly SUP championships accross the Alps
The GlaGla Race 2020 is over ! Congratulations Sonni Hönscheid, Titouan Puyo and every single one of the record 637 paddlers who completed a memorable bucket list race around Lake Annecy here in the freezing cold but very sunny French Alps.

Une course en plein hiver dans les Alpes… drôle de concept non ?
Pas du tout , les Alpes c’est la neige et le froid pour un étranger haha !
Oui c’est sur que c’est une drôle d’idée de faire du sup à cette période. Il y a des amis en Calédonie qui ont eu du mal a me croire ! Mais le concept a fait ses preuves, vu le nombre de participants.
Le lac d’Annecy est tout proche des montagnes tu as prévu d’aller en profiter pour aller skier ?
C’est une excuse la course haha. L’idée c’est carrément d’y allier un trip ski. On va faire un essai de stage ski de fond tout le tralala avec Ty Judson, Vincent Verhoeven , Alain Teurquetil et notre entraîneur Vincent Guillaume.
Au programme : ski rigolade et fondue !
Petite question matos : tu as prévu comme planche pour la GlaGla Race ?
Alors j’ai prévu deux planches. Ma ninja si les conditions sont totalement flat et ma carolina si le lac remue un peu.
Une dernière pour la route : tu t’es blessé parait-il ? Que s’est il passé ? Ça va mieux ?
J’ai mis la main sur une espèce de étoile de mer vénéneuse ! Ça fait trois semaines et c’était a la fin de ma pause donc j’ai pas trop rame depuis Paris. Ça va être une belle reprise haha

Hi Ty! We are super excited to welcome you at the GlaGla Race! What does it represent for a waterman such as yourself who is used to warm conditions, waves and saltwater, to race in the Alps in the middle of winter?
I find that racing in potentially sub zero temperatures is a novelty, but with the higher level of athletes attending it turns into a challenge. Having the likes of Titouan Puyo, Ludovic Teulade and Martin Vitry you always know that when you get on the start line it’s going to be as competitive of a race as any.
There are more and more NSP riders attending the GlaGla Race, can you tell us more about the team?
The NSP team is a very tight knit family that I’ve grown to know and love. No matter where we are in the world, we always find the time to come together, have some fun and put on a show. I feel honoured to have been adopted into this amazing team. Having someone like Titouan Puyo to help guide the way as a mentor, fellow competitor, brother and friend has been something of an invaluable experience to me. I can’t wait to see what 2020 brings for me and the team.
What board are you intending to use for the GlaGla Race?
For the GlaGla Race 2020, I’ll be using the NSP Carolina. It definitely gives me the advantage for any condition Annecy has to throw at me.
You’re coming for the GlaGla Race, but the ski resorts aren’t that far away, are you planning on skiing during your stay?
That’s about all I’ll be doing during my stay here in France. I’ll be with the NSP Team (my second family) in Valmorel snowboarding, cross country skiing, mountaineering etc. – most of which are brand new to me, which I’m super excited to experience!

De la GlaGla Race en janvier, aux sommets enneigés italiens en passant par la 1ère course 100% Kids à Evian et les championnats du monde de Dragon à Talloires, une très belle année pour les passionnés de stand up paddle sur les lacs alpins ! on vous attend nombreux en 2020 ! La GlaGla Race est dans 17 jours !!!
Saturday october 13th – Canal de Savières, Savoy – France.
A magnificent weather, new courses, competitors from 5 different countries, and a magnificent fight between Olivier Comazzi and Samuel Carbillet for the last Alpine Lakes Tour 2019 stage. (next race : the GlaGla Race !)
Samuel Carbillet, the local rider had already won this race in 2017 and finished 2nd last year behind Vincent Verhoeven. He won this time in 1h 22min and 58s with 4 seconds ahead of Olivier Comazzi.
More consistent this year on the whole Alpine Lakes Tour, he finished first overall in the Alpine Lakes Tour 2019 and ahead of Olivier Comazzi 31 points (745.5 vs. 714.5). Wolfgang Guetg is 3rd overall with 695.5 points.
Ugo Clay third on the race remained hooked on the lead duo until the exit of the canal and the finish on Lake Bourget.
In the women category, Tanja Ecker (2nd in 2018) won in 1h34’31 seconds ahead of Lidvina Champendal and Emmanuelle Marcon.
Emmanuelle Marcon is first in the overall ranking of the Alpine Lakes Tour 2019. Tanja is 2nd overall, Siri Schubert is third.

Dimanche 13 octobre 2019 : Samuel Carbillet remporte la derrière étape de l’Alpine Lakes Tour 2019 en 1h22mn et 58 secondes, 4 secondes devant Olivier Comazzi. Cette dernière victoire le conforte à la place du 1er du classement général 2019 de l’Alpine Lakes Tour ! Il succèdent à Nick Crettenand et Olivier Comazzi vainqueurs 2018.
Chez les femmes Tanja Ecker l’emporte en 1h34’31 secondes devant Lidvina Champendal et Emmanuelle Marcon. C’est Emmanuelle Marcon qui finit 1ere au classement général de l’Alpine Lakes Tour 2019.

La dernière étape 2019 de l’Alpine Lakes Tour aura lieu le 13 octobre sur le canal de Savières et le lac du Bourget ! Les inscriptions viennent d’ouvrir ! Nouveaux parcours cette année sur la courte et la longue distance ! L’étape suivante sera la GlaGla Race (17-19 janvier 2020)

Dans une semaine a lieu la nouvelle étape paradisiaque de l’Alpine Lakes Tour dans le Val d’Aoste. Amandine Chazot sera sur la ligne de départ (tout comme Boris Jinvresse). Nous lui avons proposé d’organiser un clinic samedi après midi (16h)

Nouvelle étape au programme de l’Alpine Lakes Tour dans le cadre enchanteur de la vallée de la Valpelline au pied des sommets à plus de 4000m à la frontière entre la Suisse et l’Italie, l’Alpine Paradise Race aura lieu les 21 et 22 septembre sur le lac de Place de Moulin.
Les inscriptions à l’Alpine Paradise Race sont ouvertes jusqu’à jeudi 19 septembre.
La nuova tappa dei Alpine Lakes Tour denominata «Alpine Paradise Race» si svolgerà in Italia (Valle d’Aosta) in alta montagna su un bellissimo lago blu turchese sabato 21 settembre e domenica 22 settembre. C’è una capanna accogliente a soli 50 m sul lago e la linea di partenza dove possiamo ospitare 76 persone. È anche possibile installare alcune tende vicino alla capanna.
Questa nuova tappa del Tour dell Alpine Lakes Tour rappresenta per noi un culmine del concetto con un lago incontaminato in un sito di alta montagna e un rifugio.
