Alpine Lakes Tour Savieres : latest infos / dernières infos

La 3e étape de l’Alpine Lakes Tour aura lieu ce dimanche 2 août sur le canal de Savières et le lac du Bourget (English after the French text)

En raison de l’épidémie Covid-19, la 2eme étape de l’Alpine Lakes Tour 2020 sur le canal de Savières et le lac du Bourget prévue les 18 et 19 avril est reportée à ce dimanche 2 août 2020.

Nous avons obtenu (non sans mal) l’autorisation de la préfecture pour ce report en plein été. Nous avons des contraintes d’organisation forte en raison de l’affluence touristique et du contexte sanitaire.

Nous avons avancé le départ des 2 courses (8h pour la longue et environ 8h40 pour la courte), nous devrons impérativement partir à l’heure car la navigation sur le canal sera fermée de 8h à 10h pour les plaisanciers et bateau de location.

Pour cette étape : gilet de sauvetage ou aide à la flottabilité obligatoire ainsi que le masque pour le retrait des dossards, la remise des prix ainsi que tous les moments où l’affluence ne permettra pas de respecter les distances nécessaires. Du gel hydroalcoolique sera à disposition, si vous en avez pensez à en prendre également.

Une kids race gratuite avec fourniture du matériel sera organisée à partir de 11h30 – inscriptions sur place pour les enfants de 7 à 14 ans.

pour les personnes participant à la courte distance, vous devez laisser votre véhicule à Chanaz et récupérer votre dossard au « village » de la course et prendre la navette qui vous emmènera au départ.

Due to the Covid-19 epidemic, the 2nd stage of the Alpine Lakes Tour 2020 on the Savières canal and the Lac du Bourget scheduled for April 18 and 19 is postponed to this Sunday August 2, 2020.

We obtained (not without difficulty) the authorization of the prefecture for this postponement in the middle of summer. We have strong organizational constraints due to the tourist crowds and the health context.

We have brought forward the start of the 2 races (8am for the long and around 8.40am for the short), we will have to leave on time because navigation on the canal will be closed from 8am to 10am for pleasure boaters and rental boats.

For this race : life jacket or buoyancy aid compulsory as well as the mask for the withdrawal of the bibs, the queue at the food truck, the awards ceremony as well as all the times when the crowd will not allow to respect the necessary distances . Hydroalcoholic gel will be available, if you have some, consider taking it as well.

A free kids race with supply of equipment will be organized from 11:30 am 12:30 p.m. – registration on site for children aged 7 to 14.

for people participating in the short distance, you must leave your vehicle in Chanaz, pick up your bib at the race “village” and take the shuttle that will take you to the start.

Résultats Tropical Race results (Geneva – Geneve)

Des conditions épiques pour cette reprise de l’Alpine Lakes Tour 2020 ! Cette course, qui n’était pas prévue au programme a été ajoutée pour permettre à tous ceux qui se languissaient après 3 mois d’interruption de reprendre la compétition. La bise soufflait sur Genève et a transformé la longue distance en un double upwind / Downwind ! Ludovic Teulade l’emporte chez les hommes en 1:06 et Sonni Hönscheid chez les femmes en 1:09

Epic conditions for this resumption of the Alpine Lakes Tour 2020! This race, which was not planned in the program, was added to allow all those who languished after 3 months of interruption to resume competition. The wind was blowing over Geneva and transformed the long distance into a double upwind / Downwind! Ludovic Teulade wins in men in 1:06 and Sonni Hönscheid in women in 1:09

Les participants à la longue distance ont eu à faire 2 boucles alternant upwind sur 2,5 km et downwind sur la même distance. Les participants à la courte ne faisait qu’une seule boucle. Certains inscrits sur la longue ont ainsi basculé sur la courte en ne faisant qu’une seule boucle.

Long distance participants had to do 2 loops alternating upwind over 2.5 km and downwind over the same distance. Participants in the short distance did only one loop. Some registered on the long distance have thus switched to the short by making only one loop.

Registration for the next stage, the Alpine Lakes Tour Canal de Savières and Lake Bourget (initially scheduled for April 18 and 19) is open! Then we will have the Alpine Paradise Race (September 12 and 13), the French Inland Water Championships (October 10 and 11) and the Very Flat Race (November 1)!

L’épidémie de COVID-19 est toujours là mais la baisse du nombre de cas dans nos régions alpines nous permet, avec toutes les précautions sanitaires nécessaires, de reprendre les courses de stand up paddle de l’Alpine Lakes Tour !

Nous redémarrons l’Alpine Lakes Tour 2020 six mois après la GlaGla Race par un retour à une course historique (la 1ere édition a au lieu en 2013) à Genève en co-organisation avec le Tropical Corner. Elle aura lieu dimanche 12 juillet au matin.

We are restarting the Alpine Lakes Tour 2020 six months after the GlaGla Race with a return to an historic race (the 1st edition took place in 2013) in Geneva in co-organization with the Tropical Corner. It will take place on Sunday July 12 in the morning.

Afin de limiter l’affluence à terre au Tropical Corner, nous ne proposerons qu’une longue (10km) et courte distance (5 km) le matin même départ et pas de technical race comme d’habitude, l’après-midi. Nous aurons en revanche une Dragon Race en tout début d’après-midi.

In order to limit the crowds on land at the Tropical Corner, we will only have a long and a short distance in the morning (10 km) and no technical race as usual, in the afternoon. We will however have a Dragon Race at the very beginning of the afternoon.

The Very Flat Race is postponed / Report de la Very Flat Race : November 1st, 1er novembre 2020

Nous avons essayé jusqu’à la dernière minute de garder la date du 7 juin pour la Very Flat Race sur le lac d’Aiguebelette. Malheureusement les plages vont rester fermées jusqu’au 13 juin… et nous n’avons pas pu trouver d’autre solution pour l’accès l’eau.

La Very Flat Race est donc reportée au dimanche 1er Novembre, dernier jour des vacances scolaires de Toussaint.

We tried until the last minute to keep the date of June 7 for the Very Flat Race on Lake Aiguebelette. Unfortunately the beaches will remain closed until June 13 … and we could not find any other solution for access to the water… So the Very Flat Race will take place on November 1st.

En raison de l’épidémie de coronavirus, nous avons décidé de reporter l’étape de l’Alpine Lakes Tour du canal de Savières à cet été. La date de report n’est pas encore fixée, elle le sera dès que possible.

MAJ 13/04/2020 : Après consultation et échanges, nous avons fixé la date du report au week-end du 1er et 2 août. Nous avons fait une demande à la préfecture, nous attendons la réponse.

Les personnes inscrites pour la course pourront soit reporter leur inscription sur la nouvelle date ou sur une autre étape de l’Alpine Lakes Tour (sans limite de durée) ou encore être remboursées.

Due to the coronavirus epidemic, we decided to postpone the Alpine Lakes Tour stage of the Canal de Savières until this summer. The postponement date is not yet fixed, it will be as soon as possible.

People registered for the race can either postpone their registration on the new date or on another stage of the Alpine Lakes Tour (without time limit) or be reimbursed.

After consultation and discussion, we have set the date for the postponement to the weekend of August 1 and 2. We have made a request to the prefecture, we are now waiting for an answer.

Fiona Wylde is ready for the GlaGla Race

Fiona Wylde GlaGla Race Fiona Wylde arrived in France one week before the GlaGla Race and was on the lake last sunday for a training session with Alain Teurquetil and Annecy Stand Up Paddle Club.

We asked her a few questions while she was on her way to go skiing in Chamonix !

Question 1 : A SUP race in the middle of winter in the Alps… on lake, what a strange idea don’t you think?

When I told my friends and family that I was coming to France for a race in the mountains in January, I got some pretty strange looks. Sure, it’s a different type of race and a bit unusual, but those are the best experiences!! I’m really excited to race, whatever the weather may be!

Question 2 : You arrived a week ago and came to a training session last sunday in Talloires. What was your first impression of the place, the lake ?

It’s been really nice to arrive early. I got here a week and a half before the race so I can enjoy the mountains skiing and get a few good paddles in before the race. Paddling with the Sunday crew was spectacular!! The local group here in Annecy is really strong and very passionate! It was fun to get on the water with everybody, especially with Alain leading us in Interval Training! 😜
